Covid19-Public: Driving Efficiency in Public Health Response using Open-Source Data

The emergence of COVID-19 has brought unprecedented challenges to public health across the globe. Capitalizing on the power of open data, the Ministry of Health Malaysia has launched Covid19-Public - a GitHub project aimed at providing reliable, accurate, and up-to-date information about the Covid-19 situation in Malaysia.

Project Overview:


Covid19-Public is an open-data project developed by the Ministry of Health in Malaysia. It aggregates a variety of data regarding the Covid-19 situation in the country, including epidemiology data, contact tracing, testing and quarantine data, and vaccination data. The project seeks to address the problem of fragmented and unreliable Covid-19 related data, providing a credible source of information for public health sector, policy-makers, healthcare providers, researchers, and the public.

Project Features:


The primary features of the project are data repositories that encapsulate various aspects of the Covid-19 situation in Malaysia. Also, the project provides thorough README files for each data source, explaining its context and how to effectively use it. For example, the epidemiology data presents information on the number of daily cases, death rates, recoveries, and hospital capacities. This data might be used by policy-makers to assess the current disease spread and devise containment measures accordingly.
